Diamond Weights History II

FSC View the Flowers Detail
In times past, the diamond weighed the same as a carob bean. It means that it was one carob, or one carat. In the far east, rice was used to measure the weight of a diamond. It is because Carob trees do not grow there. Then if a diamond weighed as much as four grains of rice or one carat as we know it to be now. The majority of diamond purchases there, are for diamonds that are half of a carat.
